This event brought together leading experts to discuss the critical challenges faced by Africa’s wild parrot populations and actionable steps to help.

- Ifeanyi Ezenwa from the World Parrot Trust kicked off the conversation, revealing the fascinating role parrots play in maintaining healthy forests. He shared eye-opening insights into the dire situation of the African Grey Parrot, whose numbers have plummeted due to the illegal pet trade. These intelligent and iconic birds are prized for their ability to mimic human speech, but captivity often leads to tragic consequences.
- Abim Isafiade of the Nigeria Customs Service provided insights into ongoing efforts to intercept the illegal trade of African Grey Parrots. She emphasized the importance of raising awareness and encouraged the public to use social media and other platforms to support these efforts.
